Shaunali has a Bachelors Degree in English literature and continued her studies at Sotheby’s (University of Manchester) for her Degree in the History of Decorative Art. After which she was the lead researcher in the Magnificent Mughal Jewels sale at Christie’s and continued to write articles on historical jewels for the Economic Times.

Shaunali has had over 15 years experience in working and Living in NY by holding USA Manager positions of store planning and visual design at Van Cleef and Arpels, Hermes, Cartier and Tiffany.

Coming from a mother and daughter team of Decorators and Designers, today Shaunali and her mother Sita Nanda run the well renowned Interior Design and Furniture Manufacturing company Sita Nanda interiors. They have their own manufacturing unit where they make European and English style furniture from start to finish.

Along with the above they have their own showroom for fine home textiles and furnishings that existed since 2000 with access and witness to the growth of the finest mills and a massive range of furnishings and fabrics to match international standards.

Sloane by Hand was started with an in inherent love and passion for craft, textiles and printing. Brought up amongst collectors with a life a long exposure to objects and textiles and their context in a country with a such a infinite spectrum to work with the hand and produce textiles and objects from the love of their culture and their belief.

In an environment working constantly with the craftsmen with speciality in different principles that cater to the design industry, Shaunali fully understands the collaboration of passion, a great eye, the perseverance and the encouragement of the craftsmen above all giving him the respect he deserves to produce beautiful things.
